| Beach19 |
Beach19 is
one of the most beautiful (gay)beaches in Portugal. Located
just under Lisbon it's an ideal place to spend your gayholliday.

It started as one of the first nudist beaches in Portugal,
soon to be crowded with gay people. The first part of the
beach still is for nudisme, used by gay people as well as
hetero sunbathers. If you walk south along the beach about
200 meters further from the entrance you'll find the gaybeach.
It stretches about 500 meters, with the younger crowd at the
end. Click here for

| Is it safe? |
| The beach is safe. Ofcourse watch out for pickpockers,
but that's a general problem. After dark stay away from the
cruising area since there have been some reports of gaybashers
and robbers at night. |
| |
| Is there anything to do? |
There is a popular bar at Beach19. They serve
lunch and dinner in a sandy and trendy wooden beachbar. You
will find many gaypeople there from different nationalities.

The parking and the bushes behind the dunes are used for cruising.
In daytime and when crowded it's farely safe, unless you go
too deep into the bushes. Stay near the railroad and enjoy the
view and the fun. Be safe. After dark stay away from the cruising
area since there have been some reports of gaybashers and robbers
at night. |

| How to get there |
There are several ways to get to beach19.
One of the funniest ways is to hop on a little train that
starts at Costa da Caparica. This open touristic train drives
all along the beaches and stops at Fonte da Telha, about
25 km from Costa da Caparica. If you get off at beach 17
you're almost there . At the beach turn left and walk 400
meters. You can also get out at beach19 but you'll miss
the bar, the parkingplace and the cruising area.

| By car |
If you come by car from Lisbon
take the A2 SUL in the direction of Setubal. You
cross the famous red bridge (Ponte 25 de Abril). After the
bridge take the first exit to the right (Costa da Caparica).
Follow the road untill you arrive in Costa da Caparica. There
you can either park your car and take the tourist train or
you go further by car. At the first traffic lights turn left.
That's the main road through Costa da Caparica. Follow this
road until you see no houses anymore. Go straight on until
the road begins to go up a bit. There is a blue sign with
several beaches on it (see photo on the right). Turn right
here and follow this road untill the end. There you'll find
the parking place of beach19. |

| Without car from Lisbon |
| If you are in Lisbon without a car take the ferry
at Belem to Trafaria (you can also take the ferry from Cais
do Sodre to Cacilhas). Then a bus to Costa da Caparica and then
the tourist train towards beach19. The last tourist train back
from the beach is it 19.00. If you miss it you have a problem....
It's a long walk back :) The only alternative then is to hitchhike. |
